Piezoelectric

A material that generates an electric charge when mechanically deformed. Conversely, when an external electric field is applied to piezoelectric materials they mechanically deform. Inorganic crystals are the strongest piezoelectrics but polymer films such as PVDF have some piezo effect. Piezoelectric energy harvesting is increasingly popular and it has attracted a rapidly increasing proportion of development effort on energy harvesting.
